Level 0 — First Contact

Never chatted with an AI before? No problem. In the next few minutes, you'll have your first conversation with an Artificial Intelligence — free and without installing anything.

What to Expect

In this tutorial you will:

  • Understand what a “prompt” is
  • Open a free AI chatbot
  • Write your first prompt
  • Learn the most important safety rules

What Is a Prompt?

A promptis simply your input to the AI — what you type into the text field. It can be a question, an instruction, or a request. The AI reads your prompt and generates a response.

Think of a prompt like placing an order at a restaurant: the clearer you state what you want, the better the result. “Bring me some food” works, but “I'd like a Margherita pizza, no olives please” works much better.

Your First Chat: Step by Step

1

Open an AI chatbot

Go to chatgpt.com or gemini.google.com. Both are free to use. You just need a Google or OpenAI account (quick to create).

2

Write your first prompt

Type something simple, for example:

Explain to me in 3 sentences what Artificial Intelligence is. Write as if you were explaining it to a 12-year-old.
3

Read the response

The AI will respond within seconds. Read through the answer. Notice anything? Want to know more? Just ask a follow-up question!

4

Ask a follow-up

Try a follow-up question:

Can you give me an everyday example where I already use AI without knowing it?
5

Experiment!

Try different questions: ask for a recipe, have it draft an email, or ask why the sky is blue. There's no “wrong” — you can't break anything.

The Three Golden Rules

1. Don't enter personal data

No real names, addresses, passwords, or health data. Treat the chat like a conversation at a public table.

2. Verify the answers

AIs can be wrong or invent facts (“hallucinations”). If something matters to you, check it with a second source.

3. The AI is a tool, not an oracle

It gives you suggestions, but you always make the decisions. Use the AI as an assistant — not as a replacement for your own thinking.

Done!

You've just had your first conversation with an AI. That was the hardest step — the first one. Now you know it's neither complicated nor dangerous. In the next level, you'll learn how to write better prompts and truly make the AI work for you.
