Claude Reflect: How Much AI Do You Really Use?

You open Claude in the morning, ask a quick question -- and three hours later realize you have had 27 conversations. About writing, code, research, emails, brainstorming. How much AI do you actually use? And for what exactly? Until now, there was no answer. Now there is.

What is Claude Reflect?

Reflect is a new dashboard in Claude that makes your AI usage visible -- comparable to Apple's Screen Time for your smartphone or Spotify Wrapped for your music. Since July 9, 2026, it is available in beta, free for all users (Free, Pro, and Max). You can find it under Settings > Reflect.

What does Reflect show you?

1. Natural language summary
At the top, a short paragraph describes which topics have been on your mind recently and how you have been using Claude. Not columns of numbers, but a readable summary: 'You have primarily used Claude for writing and research, with a focus on marketing topics.'

2. Usage statistics
Below that, you find concrete numbers: your most active day, your peak hour, your total number of chats -- all as clear visual charts. You can select the time range: last month, 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months.

3. Topic breakdown
Reflect shows you in percentages what you have used Claude for: How much was coding? How much was writing? How much was research? This breakdown helps you understand where AI has the biggest impact in your daily work -- and where perhaps less than you thought.

4. Reflection questions
Particularly interesting: Claude regularly asks you reflection questions. For example: 'What is one thing you want to keep doing yourself, even if Claude could do it faster?' This sounds unusual for an AI tool -- and that is exactly what makes it valuable.

New tools for intentional AI use:

Reflect brings two practical features that no other AI tool offers:

Quiet Hours: You define time windows when Claude should not tempt you into working. Evenings after 8 PM? Weekends? You decide. During these times, Claude responds more sparingly or reminds you to take a break.

Break Nudges: After a usage duration you set, you receive a gentle reminder that a break would be a good idea. Similar to the Screen Time warning on the iPhone -- but for your AI use.

Who is Reflect useful for?

- Knowledge workers: You can see in black and white which tasks you delegate to AI and where you might be over- or under-delegating
- Freelancers and self-employed: Understand how AI has changed your workday -- helpful for pricing and efficiency analysis

- AI beginners: Motivating to see how versatilely you already use Claude. Or a nudge to discover new use cases

- Anyone who wants to use AI more intentionally: The reflection questions and quiet hours help use AI as a tool, not a habit

Privacy -- what you need to know:

Reflect only works if you have the Memory feature enabled in Claude. Memory allows Claude to remember information across sessions. Here are the important points:

- Memory and training are separate: You can enable Memory (for Reflect) without your data being used to train Claude. Check under Settings > Privacy that 'Help improve Claude' is turned off if you prefer.
- What Reflect does NOT see: Incognito chats are completely excluded. Conversations related to health (via health integrations) are also excluded. If you asked Claude to summarize your inbox, the summary may appear -- but not the source emails.

- Sensitive topics: Confidential conversations only appear as high-level summaries, not in detail.

- Data use: Anthropic states that Reflect insights 'are not used for any other purpose.'

- Data retention: With 'Help improve Claude' disabled, data is retained for 30 days. With it enabled, up to 5 years.

Recommendation: Enable Memory for Reflect, but disable 'Help improve Claude' in your privacy settings. This way you get the dashboard without sharing your data for training purposes.

How to set up Reflect:

1. Open claude.ai in your browser or the Claude desktop app
2. Go to Settings (gear icon)

3. Enable Memory if you have not already

4. Click on the Reflect tab

5. Select your desired time range (1, 3, 6, or 12 months)

6. Optional: Set up your quiet hours and break nudges under Time and Focus

Critical perspective:

TechCrunch made an interesting point: Reflect shows you how much Claude already does for you. This can be motivating -- but it can also make you feel more attached to the tool. Similar to loyalty programs that show you how many points you have collected. When you see that Claude has handled 200 tasks for you, switching to a different tool suddenly feels harder. Both readings -- honest self-reflection and clever customer retention -- can be true simultaneously.

Use Reflect intentionally: as a tool for self-assessment, not as confirmation that you cannot work without AI.
