Adobe Creative Agent: AI Assistant Now in Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator and More -- Public Beta Launched

You are sitting in Premiere Pro and need to rename 200 clips, sort them, and create a rough cut. Or you have a product photo in Photoshop that you need in four different formats for Instagram, LinkedIn, your website, and a flyer. Until now, that meant click, click, click -- hundreds of manual steps for tasks that could easily be described in one sentence.

What is the Adobe Creative Agent?

The Creative Agent is an AI assistant embedded directly in Adobe's Creative Cloud apps. Unlike simple AI image generators that just output a finished image, the Creative Agent works as an orchestration layer: it understands your instructions in natural language, accesses the underlying app's APIs, and executes complex, multi-step workflows autonomously -- while you retain creative control.

Think of it as a competent intern who can perfectly operate Photoshop, Premiere, and Illustrator. You say what you want, and they handle the grunt work. You decide at the end whether the result is right.

Where is the Creative Agent available?

- Public Beta: Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Frame.io
- Private Beta: After Effects

- Planned: Additional Creative Cloud apps for photography, video, and motion design

What can the assistant do in each app?

1. Premiere Pro -- Let AI handle edit prep
The assistant takes care of the time-consuming prep work in video editing:

- Automatically sort clips into bins and batch rename them

- Identify interview questions in long recordings and add markers

- Set markers at relevant points

- Assemble a first rough cut that you can then refine

Example: 'Sort all clips by location, rename them using the pattern Location_Date_Number, and create a rough cut of interview highlights.'

2. Photoshop -- Describe edits instead of clicking
- Swap backgrounds via text instruction

- Export assets for all platforms simultaneously (Instagram square, LinkedIn landscape, Story portrait)

- Automatically organize and rename layers

- New on-device AI Remove tool -- now works locally without cloud connection

- Non-destructive Reflection Removal

Example: 'Replace the background with a bright studio setting, and export the image in 1080x1080, 1200x628, and 1080x1920 formats.'

3. Illustrator -- From concept to vector
The new 'Concept to Vector' feature transforms rough sketches into editable vector graphics. Combined with the assistant, you can create variations, adjust colors, and generate layouts using natural language.

4. InDesign -- Automate layout workflows
The assistant helps with recurring layout tasks: update brand assets across documents, adjust formats, and automate production steps.

5. Frame.io -- Manage creative projects
In the collaboration platform Frame.io, the assistant can organize shoot assets, summarize feedback across revisions, and even generate B-roll footage -- all within the project.

New Firefly features (also since June 2026):

Alongside the Creative Agent, Adobe has also equipped Firefly with new agentic capabilities:

- Brand Kit creation: Describe your brand and style -- Firefly generates a complete logo, brand identity, and color palette
- Short product videos: Create finished product videos from text or image prompts

- Storyboard to video: Create a storyboard and generate a video from it

- Quick Cut: Firefly automatically assembles a polished first cut from your raw footage

The new Firefly Studio introduces two important concepts:
- Elements: A library for visual variables -- save characters, locations, and objects and reuse them across generations for consistent results

- Projects: Stores assets, generations, and session history so you can seamlessly pick up where you left off

Adobe AI tools on other platforms:

Adobe is bringing its creative AI tools to third-party platforms: ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and soon Google Gemini and Slack. This means you can use Adobe Firefly features directly from your chat tool without opening Adobe apps.

Availability and pricing:

- Requirement: A Creative Cloud subscription. The Creative Agent is part of the existing apps -- no separate subscription needed
- Creative Cloud Standard: 54.99 USD/month (25 Firefly credits/month)

- Creative Cloud Pro: 69.99 USD/month (4,000 Firefly credits/month) -- recommended for intensive AI use

- Single apps: Starting at 22.99 USD/month (e.g., Photoshop or Premiere only)

- Students: 19.99 USD/month for the first year, then 39.99 USD/month

- Status: Public Beta -- features are usable but may still change

Privacy note:

Adobe has taken a distinctive approach to AI development that is relevant for privacy-conscious users:

- Training data: Adobe Firefly was trained exclusively on licensed material -- Adobe Stock, public domain content, and licensed works. No customer content is used for training.
- Content Credentials: Adobe uses the open-source Content Credentials framework (C2PA), which automatically labels AI-generated content as such. This creates transparency about which parts of a work are AI-generated.

- Cloud processing: AI features are primarily processed in the cloud. Exception: the new Remove tool in Photoshop now runs entirely locally on your device.

- GDPR: Adobe processes European user data in accordance with GDPR. Still, check the privacy settings in your Creative Cloud account to see which data sharing options are active.

Who benefits most?

The Creative Agent is most valuable for anyone who works daily with Adobe apps and spends significant time on repetitive production steps: videographers who need to sort and prepare clips, graphic designers exporting assets for different platforms, social media managers who regularly need content in various formats, and agencies creating brand materials consistently across many projects.

The biggest advantage over standalone AI tools: the assistant works directly in the professional software you already know. You do not get flat, non-editable results, but fully editable files with layers, paths, and sequences.
